My Young Adult 5 Star Books for 2011

So, I was looking at all the books I read in 2011…and I discovered that out of all the Young Adult Books that I read, I only gave two of them 5 stars. Now, seeing how I average about a book a week…that means that about 50 books didn’t get 5 stars. Interesting. Now, do you want to know what books they were? Of course you do, otherwise you wouldn’t be looking at the brilliant covers displayed below.  Jane by April Lindner and Eona by Alison Goodman. Even though they are totally different, there are also threads that are eerily the same. Both of these books are about girls. One is a contemporary remake of Jane Eyre. The other is the sequel to Eon which is a Chinese mythology fantasy. Both are about the girls figuring out who they are and what they want to do about it. Plus there is some romance.  I don’t know that I can give a book a full five stars when it doesn’t have a little romantic interest. At one point both of the girls decides that love just won’t work out for them. Both girls have to take care of others (although one takes care of a country with magic and a sword and one is a nanny for a very spoiled little girl). Both books need to be read after having another book. It would make sense to read Jane Eyre before reading Jane and life would be very confusing if Eon isn’t read first since that is the first half of the story. They are completely different books; however, they have a lot of similarities. One being that they are both completely wonderful! Maybe I should go read them again…
