Deck the Walls!: A Wacky Christmas Carol
illustrated by Nick Ward
In this parody of “Deck the Halls” readers are shown the hilarity of a family’s Christmas gathering. From cousins playing with food to sledding and posing for a family photo, this goes through all the various scenarios of a family gathering that readers might recognize from their own family gatherings. This book was great fun to sing out loud to the young kiddos I read books to. And they could relate to the shenanigans that the young cousins were part of in the family’s gathering. (Although thankfully my kiddos didn’t go and try to play food hockey at our family meal.) Plus there are so many fun details as to what each character is doing, that youngsters could read (or sing) this book multiple times before the holidays. Seriously, this is quite the fun book that will ring true to those that have loads of family gatherings around the holidays. Well done!
