I just needed to post once again about how much I love audio books! Seriously. The only way that I can read as much as I do is because half the time I am listening to an audio book as I drive around in the car. (The other reason is because sometimes I get so caught up in a book that I am reading that I forget to go to sleep!)
Anyway, over the Christmas break I listened to two audio books that made me happy.
The first was the third book in “The Incorrigible Children of Ashton Place” series called The Unseen Guest by Maryrose Wood.
I love listening to Katherine Kellgren read this particular series. She does fun voices. And you can totally tell when the children are speaking versus when they are howling their words (which goes along with the fact that they were raised by wolves). I also like that there were more things about the mysterious past of the Incorrigible Children were revealed. Although, mostly it was just enough to make the mystery all the larger. Good thing the series isn’t quite done yet.
The other book that I listened to over the break was The Monster’s Ring by Bruce Coville.
This is the first book in the Magic Shop series. And it was good. Not as good as Juliet Dove Queen of Love or Jeremy Thatcher Dragon Hatcher, but good. And I liked seeing how the world of the magic shop came about. The fun thing about Bruce Coville’s audio books is that they are full cast audio. That means that there are multiple people who do the audio (so different characters can do different voices). This is fun, especially for youngsters who might not be able to tell subtle differences in the voice of one reader.
Anyway, these were fun books to listen to. I think I am going to have to go and find some more to listen to as well. 🙂 Which will make my driving around all the more enjoyable.
