The Odd One Out: a Spotting Book
This book is perfect for all the kids who love the I Spy type of books. Each page has a fun little rhyme that lets you know just what exactly you are looking for. The difference from this and an I Spy book is that you are looking for the one thing that is different among a see of similar animals. So you might look for the turtle that is hiding its head or the penguin that is protecting a fledgling. And the illustrations are fun for grownups to look at as well (especially if the grownups like the fun style of illustrations) Yeah, this is one that can be enjoyed over and over again.
What to do after reading this book:
Play “I Spy” with objects around the house.
Look at various animals around the neighborhood or at the zoo.
Pretend you are a turtle.
Have a group of friends line up and act similar to each other. Have one be different and see if someone can guess who is different.
Sort toys into categories. See if you can play a game of seeing what toys belong or don’t in various categories.
